Cinda Firestone Fox – Writer, Producer, Editor, Director

Cinda Firestone Fox has enjoyed a long and successful career in a variety of different fields. The day after her graduation, she became a journalist with the somewhat radical publication Liberation News Service but soon left when she met director Emile de Antonio and became his assistant. Again, this career path was relatively short lived when, having seen the atrocities beginning to unfold at Attica, N.Y. prison, she undertook the onerous task of producing and directing an extremely hard hitting documentary based on the prison take over and the subsequent killing of over 30 inmates and 11 hostages.

A trilogy of documentaries followed, all looking at retirement and the different approaches to it in various cultures. South Beach looks at the eviction of elderly South Beach residents to make way for hotels and other tourist based accommodation. Mountain People follows men and women that toil well into their 90s working in the fields while the film Retirement specifically looks at life in community retirement villages. All proved successful and, like Attica, have recently enjoyed a revival in their popularity thanks to modern rereleases.

More recently, the name Cinda Firestone Fox, has become synonymous with the writing, production, and editing of screenplays and musicals. Cited as her true love, school theatre marked Cinda’s first foray into this genre and plays have included Family Fortune, a play about a Puerto Rican family’s bitter in-fighting over the family inheritance. Other plays credited to Fox include Questionable Quest and Down to Earth while screenplays penned by Cinda Firestone Fox include Madame, Te Queiro, and Fox Hunt.
